About Us

Our Training Director, Thomas Nye, has been training and competing with working dogs for 15 years.  His first competition coming as an 11 year old, handling Vicksburg the Fulmer UDex WDex TDex (Axel) in the veterans' stake in working trials (owned and trained by his father Stuart Nye).  He then went on to train his own dog Jonal Islander (Kaiser) gaining the qualification CDex & Certificate of Merit UD.

In 1995 Tom began training for the very demanding sport of Schutzhund - now VPG!  He has worked both dogs and bitches at competition level and has qualified SCH2 with Paula Von Der Schafbachmuhle, SCH3 with Pasco Vom Peko Haus, Laubwerk Q & VomhausNye Gerrie

In 1996, just one year after entering the sport, Tom won the Welsh National Open Championships with his dog Pasco vom Peko Haus gaining scores of 88,93,95. He has been selected to represent England on no less than three occasions at International level gaining 4th place in Dublin in 1998 with a score of 90,93,90. and was a regular competitor at the BSA National Schutzhund Championships.

Tom & Laubwerk Q  were one of only four teams to meet the qualification criteria for the WUSV at the first 2002 selection trial gaining scores of 80,92,94.  Q & Tom also held the record of the only team to score an excellent grade (96pts) in Protection work at Selection Trial Level for 2 years (2002 - 2004)

Tom & Asko v. Het Berghuis Sch3 IPO3 VPG3 won the 3rd 2005 WUSV selection trial and Scottish Open Championship with outstanding marks of 97-87-97 within only a few weeks of being imported into the UK and followed this with an outstanding win at the second FCI selection trial with scores of 98-83-94 giving him a place on the British Team for the 2005 FCI World Championships.  Since then Asko & Tom have gone on to represent Great Briain on a further 4 occasions (see Asko's page for the full story).  In 2007 Tom & Asko won the COMBINED Eire National Tracking & Schutzhund Championships!!!!

As well as being a VPG Judge, Tom is a BAGSD Grade A certified helper and was  the long flight/test of courage helper at the Schutzhund National Championships in 1999. 

He has extensive knowledge and experience of criminal work having performed as a criminal at numerous Open and Championship level working trials. 

He is regularly invited to Police Dog Training facilities to assist with the demonstrations to the ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers) Instructor courses in regard to training methods and techniques used in sport dog training.

Tom has recently assisted with the continuation training of a number of police service dogs and is regularly consulted about  training methods and the correct role of a helper or criminal to Police dog Section's.

In 2005 Tom began to take an interest in "clicker" training and following the teachings of one of the worlds foremost experts on "clicker training" - Ismael De Vos - Tom has become one of the UK's most successful exponents of the "click" system and is in regular demand to conduct seminars on this sysyem throughout the UK!

Tom is a staunch family man & fully acknowledges that he could not have reached any of his goals to date without the unfaltering support of his wonderful wife, Victoria & his 3 children Adam, Harry & Sophie.
